I'm Josh, a Brisbane-based photographer specialising in portrait, beauty, and fashion photography.

I picked up a camera for the first time in high school, spending lunch breaks in the darkroom making black and white prints. My first serious portrait was made with a pinhole camera built from a shoebox. I've lost that image since, but it's still one of the best portraits I've ever taken.

I started my degree at the Queensland College of Art and Design before transferring to the University of Southern Queensland, where I completed a Bachelor of Communication. That shift pushed me toward commercial photography and gave me a clearer sense of the kind of work I wanted to make.

Fashion photography drew me in early and it still does. But over time I've found myself more interested in just photographing people. Working with someone who has never been in front of a camera before and watching their confidence build through a session is where the work gets interesting.

Every shoot starts with a conversation. I'm not interested in putting people into poses and waiting for the clock to run out. The best images come from the moments in between, when someone stops thinking about being photographed and just exists in front of the lens.
